Getting Good Done

Joyful Helper

Helping is fun!

We all know worthy causes that inspire us. They promote education, preserve art, protect children, practice medicine, provide food, prevent disasters – the list is, quite delightfully, endless.

I want to know about your favorite non-profits so together we can get good done by pointing other Do-Gooders their way.

Post at link or name and location of a great non-profit and tell me what makes them remarkable. I will  feature some in future posts. This is a super simple way to help a non-profit with social media marketing.

4 things I’ll tell you about each org I present:

  • What does this non-profit aim to do?
  • Why do they do it?
  • What makes them remarkable?
  • How, exactly, can we help today?

Opportunities to Do Good are abundant and that excites me a lot. You’ve likely heard about Girl Scouts, Doctors Without Borders, Kiva, or Sierra Club – a few of my favorites. But do you know about the small group of Do-Gooders that preserved over 12,400 acres of prime California river lands? Take that, developers! How about one woman that decided survivors of Hurricane Katrina shouldn’t have to say good-bye permanently to the pets they love while rebuilding their homes and lives? She bought land, built fences and pens, found volunteers and let people leave their cats, dogs, rabbits, and horses – no fees, no recriminations, just a loving and safe place for pets to wait for their owners to come back and take them home. That is an amazingly kind thing to do!

Now it’s your turn to help a non-profit succeed – what Do-Gooder organization makes you proud to be in the human race?
